To fly the papagayos means for our fathers or grandfathers, traditional and specific infantile play of the Holy Week, where the children of all the ages met in opened places, far from the places with electric cables or trees, in which one the kites could get tangled up in.
The principal idea was to show that it could fly more. To fly his papagayo is a releasing activity so that through the generations it was maintained like the favourite activity of the children Venezuelans.
In Guayana, There are two favourite places to practice this play, one of them is the hill El Gallo in San Fénix, and the other is Cruz del Papa in the avenue Paseo Caroní.
Since this occasion, the Catholic University Andrés Bello (UCBA), organizes a contest for the students and the population: “The happiest Papagayo” and “the prettiest Papagayo”, to make them fly to take pleasure with their family and friends, but not to cut the kite of the others. Ibelitze Hernández, coordinator of culture of the UCAB Guayana and organizer of the event, specify that it is the second time that this meeting takes place and that it is a unique experiment.
“We await a grandfather who will come with his grandson, to show him and teach to him how it practices, and to also divide with us.” |

The Island-of-the-Madeleine, meeting for blizzard insane.
Canada - 5 mars |
Above the small hills float each day of the multicoloured sails. Hung like puppets with their ropes, kiters benefit from the mistral. The spectacle is breathtaking : these insane of the blizzard glide along at tremendous speeds, or rises like dead sheets thrown in the gust of wind. 31 sometimes 43 mph charged with snow.

 |
The kite measures 32 to 53 sq ft. The fingers cold by a temperature of -77°F, you must untie the knots of the kite.
The Havre-aux-Basques lagoon has a powdery and smooth surface, favourable at the speed. The place reminds Great Salt Lake so much it is larg. Fixed in his harness, the skier unceasingly increases the angle of attack until to skim very close the track of his shoulder.
The kite is the only activity which we can practice by all the temperatures in the Island-of-the-Madeleine. When the wind is blowing too much to make kayak or when there’s not enough sun to go to the beach, we can always kiter. Attach a kite to a surfing, a snow board or skis, and you obtain a new glide sport : kitesurf, kiteski, kitebuggy.
